The Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe opened the much anticipated first international shopping mall in Sri Lanka; Colombo City Centre on the 19th of September 2018. The shopping mall is a joint venture of the Abans Group and the Next Story Group, which is a Singapore based company.
Colombo City Centre is situated by the scenic Beria Lake in the heart of Colombo, first of its kind in Sri Lanka. The shopping mall offers world-class culinary, entertainment and retail experiences.
The shopping mall includes exclusive luxurious international brands and local brands such as Michael Kors, Nike, Charles & Keith, Fossil, Miniso, Spa Ceylon, ODEL and many more. Softlogic introduced two more international brands; Armani Exchange and Swarovski. Abans had opened up their Apple Store where they are the authorized resellers, LG and Abans Homes inStyle.
The Food Studio is spacious enough for 700 people and provides a wide range of options at different price points. There is a high-end dessert bar conceptualized by a three-star Michelin Chef. There are also more shops such as Roots Gelato and Bubble Me Bubble Tea.
The state-of-the-art Scope Cinema is yet to open, it will include 6 cinemas which will be able to screen at least 25 shows every day.
Colombo City Centre has definitely lived up to its expectations, setting new standards for the shopping malls that are yet to come in the future such as ODEL mall, Cinammon Life and One Galle Face. It is very exciting to see such establishments being built, which will increase the living standards and tourist experiences in Colombo.
